This book was written by Blair Rodman and Lee Nelson not Phil Helmuth.

not his book, he wrote the forward, that's all

it is essentially a spin-off of Sklansky's "all-in" tournament system (called "The System" in Tournament Poker for Advanced Players)

So you go to a Barnes and Noble grab a cup of coffee grab the book sit down and read the forward since it is probably the only good part.

It is a good read, but not going to make you a star player alone. Has good build on tips for poker players who have played some and want to get better. Hellmuth's forward is nothing special really. What it really stresses is until you get good enough and have enough practice, you have to put people on decisions. There is really no other way for lesser players to get it done, which is excellent advice when you think about it.

Doyle's two books and the two books by Dan Harrington(3rd one just came out) are a must.

We had the pleasure of having Blair Rodman come in for our registration of our January poker tournament for a "meet and greet" and book signing. "Kill Phil" is geared towards the players that are intimidated by the poker "pros" and don't want to get into a "reading" war with them on hands.
Blair was a very personable and humble guy and has been tearing up the tournament circuits lately.
I wish more people would get a chance to chat with him and listen to him, but sadly they are blinded by the personalities and mouths on TV.

If it were Blair Rodman vs. Phil Hellmuth either heads up or in a last longer bet, I would take Blair every day of the week.

I think it's an excellent book, especially if you are trying to learn to play NL tourneys. Here's the strategy in a nutshell:

Play extremely tightly early.
Don't be afraid to push your whole stack in if you have a powerhouse pre-flop.
Gradually increase the hands that you are pushing with as the blinds increase (and your stack/blind ratio drops).

It works and will allow a new tourney player to survive (mostly through not letting you play those trappy mediocre hands that can get you stacked against a good player). The better the tourney player the more they hate to face a "Kill Phil'er." That should tell you enough.

If you take your Kill Phil game to the cash tables you will get broke over time; it's strictly a tournament strategy book.
